On March 31, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin in a framework of his visit to Brussels met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini.
The key topic of the meeting was an aggravation of the security situation in the east of Ukraine and provocative steps made by Russia and Russian-backed militants, namely the so-called “nationalization” of Ukrainian enterprises which are located in the territory not controlled by the Government, the introduction of Russian currency, establishment of quasi-fiscal and banking systems.
Foreign Minister of Ukraine stressed that those steps are the deliberate violation of the Minsk agreements that require strong response from the European Union.
The head of Foreign Ministry of Ukraine expressed hope for a quick completion of the internal EU procedures for granting visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens, as well as the completion of the ratification of the Association Agreement.
The parties also discussed the schedule of further bilateral dialogue, including the preparation for EU-Ukraine Summit 2017.
