On October 24, 2017, a meeting of bilateral Ukraine-U.S. Non-Proliferation Working Group (NPWG) was held in Kyiv. Delegations were headed by Mr. Sergii Shutenko, Director General for International Security of the MFA of Ukraine, and Ms. Ann K. Ganzer, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. State Department.
Parties have discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the sphere of counter-proliferation of WMD and means of their delivery. Particular attention was paid to growing threats from nuclear and ballistic programs of countries of concern, including situation in the DPRK. Implementation of a number of priority projects aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s security sector under conditions of Russia’s military aggression, interaction within international organizations, multilateral nonproliferation and export control regimes have been also broadly discussed.
Discussions confirmed the common approaches to the NPWG agenda issues.
