State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway Audun Halvorsen declared on May 14 during the meeting with Deputy Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia.
Both sides pointed out high dynamics of bilateral partnership, particularly in the sphere of political dialogue. Taking the occasion, the Norwegian side confirmed intensions of Ms. Tone Wilhelmsen Trøen, Speaker of the Norwegian Storting (Parliament), and Mrs. Ine Eriksen Søreide, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Norway, to pay visits to Ukraine in the second semester of 2018. The growths of bilateral trade, as well as a slight increase of Norwegian investments into the Ukrainian economy in 2017, were also welcomed as positive tendency.
Having mentioned the issue of cooperation in multilateral format Mr. Kyslytsia expressed gratitude to Norway for the 4,6 mln. Euros allocated in the framework of “CoE Action Plan for 2018-2021”. Mr. Halvorsen in his turn confirmed the Norwegian readiness to provide practical assistance to the implementation of systemic reforms in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian side informed about efforts aimed at implementation of the Minsk Agreements, as well as perspectives of launching of the UN peacekeeping operation in the Eastern Ukraine. Cooperation in the framework of NATO was discussed, including the preparation of the Alliance’s Summit in Brussels next July.
Both sides also exchanged views on pressing international issues.
