On June 5, 2018 the Acting Director of the Second European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Volodymyr Shkurov, together with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Ukraine Mr. Gela Dumbadze opened the photo exhibition "First Democratic Republic of Georgia" prepared by the Embassy of Georgia in Ukraine at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The photo exhibition "The First Democratic Republic of Georgia" consists of documents and photographs depicting the history of Georgia's independence of 1917-1921, as well as the history of the development of diplomatic relations with Ukraine. The materials of the exhibition reflect the most important periods of Georgian Republic history: the proclamation of Independence, the formation of the Government, the holding of the first democratic elections, the first Constitution, the work of the first diplomatic mission of Georgia in Ukraine. In general, the exposition consists of 30 archival photographs.
"For Ukraine, Georgia is a strategic partner and reliable friend, which is especially important now, when Ukraine is going through one of the most dramatic periods in its history as it faces external aggression and defends its right to determine its own destiny. Today, the Ukrainian and Georgian people, Ukraine and Georgia stand in their struggle against the aggressor and the occupant. " – said Mr. Volodymyr Shkurov in his opening remarks.
The exhibition is one of the events planned by the Embassy of Georgia in Ukraine as part of celebrating of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia.
