Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the signing of the historic Agreement between the Republic of Macedonia and the Hellenic Republic for the settlement of the differences regarding Macedonia’s official name and the establishment of a strategic partnership between Macedonia and Greece.

This important decision opens a new period in the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The signing of this document will facilitate the strengthening of security, creating of the climate of mutual trust and partnership not only in the Balkan region but also on the entire European continent.

This Agreement is an example of Macedonian and Greek leaders’ readiness to settle important issues in a civilized way and according to the European values and attitudes.

The strengthening of the relations between Greece and Macedonia is important for Ukraine, taking into consideration traditionally friendly relations of our state with these countries as well as Ukraine’s and Macedonia’s joint foreign policy priorities – European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
