«Latvia stands ready to further support Ukraine in all possible ways», stated Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs after the talks held with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin on June 20, 2018.
Both Ministers have highly valued the current state of a bilateral political dialogue, an active and tangible cooperation between Ukraine and Latvia within the international organizations, as well as a steady tendency for the bilateral trade turnover growth (in 2018 – by 37%).
Pavlo Klimkin expressed gratitude to the Republic of Latvia for a firm support of sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, a consistent stance with regard to supporting the sanctions pressure on Russia due to its continuous aggression against Ukraine. He voiced a special appreciation to Latvia for medical treatment and rehabilitation of the Ukrainian military servicemen, wounded in warfare while defending the state sovereignty of our country.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Republic of Latvia reaffirmed their joint intention to coordinate the steps aimed at ending the temporary occupation of the Crimea by Russia and facilitating the release of the Ukrainian political prisoners.
