«This visit is a demonstration of solidarity of Lithuania with the Ukrainian people and sigh of support to Ukraine», emphasized Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius after the talks held with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin on June 21, 2018.
Both Ministers have positively evaluated the current state of the bilateral relations, which fully correspond to the existing level of the strategic partnership.
Pavlo Klimkin expressed his sincere gratitude to the Lithuanian Republic for the strong political support of Ukraine's sovereignty and independence, and most importantly for the active practical assistance to our state: provision of humanitarian, financial and technical assistance (since 2014 – more than 9 mil. Euro), medical rehabilitation for the Ukrainian military servicemen (since 2014 – more than 200 persons).
Linas Linkevičius emphasized Lithuania's intention to continue proactive and effective support to our country in implementing the important internal reforms, to facilitate the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.
In the frameworks of the visit Minister Linkevičius is also planning to visit Luhansk region and territories at the so-called “dividing line” in order to familiarize with the actual security situation, caused by the Russian aggression, and to discuss ways of Lithuania’s supporting small and medium-sized businesses in the region.
