"The development of relations with Ukraine remains one of the important components of German foreign policy" –
said the State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany Walter Lindner during a meeting with Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin in Kyiv on October 19.
Mr. Lindner heads the delegation of state secretaries comprising of six German ministries visiting Ukraine. This is the fourth visit of German state secretaries to Ukraine, starting in 2014. Its aim is to support a direct dialogue with profile ministries. This year's visit is conducted as a preparation for the visit to Ukraine of the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
The Minister Klimkin thanked the German side for the financial and technical support provided to our country, in particular, thanking the German government for extending the mandate of Georg Milbradt, the Special Commissioner for Decentralization and Good Governance.
Pavlo Klimkin stressed the growth of German business activity in Ukraine, which proves the confidence in the reforms being implemented by the Government of Ukraine. Separately, he called on the German side to increase financial support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in our country.
In his turn, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany stressed the importance of implementing reforms in Ukraine in the context of supporting macroeconomic stability and creating favorable conditions for foreign business.
Mr. Lindner acknowledged the progress made in implementing unrestricted financial loans in the amount of EUR 500 million and informed about the intention of the German side to expand the framework conditions for further funding.
