On 29 November 2019, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák together with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yehor Bozhok made a joint trip to Luhansk Oblast.
The diplomats visited the Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint and saw a recently reconstructed bridge crossing over the Siverskyi Donets River.
Under the Minsk Agreements, the OSCE executes specific functions through the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, the Trilateral Contact Group, and the OSCE Observer Mission at the Russian Checkpoints Gukovo and Donetsk, to solve the conflict (monitoring of the Ukrainian-Russian state border, ceasefire, withdrawal of the heavy weapons and foreign armed formations from the territory of Ukraine, etc.).
During the visit, as part of Slovakia’s humanitarian aid to Ukraine, Miroslav Lajčák gave the Ukrainian side three certificates for ambulance vehicles.
The visit of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office is another reaffirmation of the international community’s continuous attention to the situation in the Donbas, caused by Russian aggression.
