Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Council of Europe Kostyantyn Gryshchenko met with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland during his working visit to Ukraine.

K.Gryshchenko and T. Jagland discussed a wide range of topical issues of the Council of Europe agenda in the context of the Ukrainian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. They exchanged opinions on the preparation of key events during June – November 2011 in Kyiv and Strasbourg and discussed a series of international issues within the competence of the Council of Europe.

The parties touched on the reformation of the Council of Europe and the strengthening of European self-governance in the light of the Eminent Persons’ report. K.Gryshchenko confirmed that Ukraine will take all the necessary measures to coordinate the process of discussing this document and drafting on its basis concrete steps of the CE reformation.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister also informed the Council of Europe Secretary General about moves taken by Ukraine to observe its obligations and commitments to the Council of Europe.
