During the meeting with participation of the Australian Ambassador to Ukraine, Michael Potts, the prospects of enhancing Ukrainian-Australian cooperation in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other areas were discussed.

The Sides positively appreciated the constructive nature of bilateral interaction within the framework of international organisations, in particular the UN and OSCE.

Special Envoy, Dr. Russell Trood, has conveyed the letter of Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon Julia Gillard, to President of Ukraine, H.E. Mr Viktor Yanukovych. In her letter the Australian Prime Minister informs about the commitment of the Government of Australia to contribute €1 million to the Chornobyl Shelter Fund. The Foreign Minister of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the Australian Side for this important message of solidarity and support of the international efforts to eliminate the consequences of the Chornobyl disaster.
