Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a substantive call with my Canadian colleague Anita Anand to coordinate further bilateral agenda and advance a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.
I thanked Canada for yesterday’s important decisions: allocating CAD 20 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, adopting a new sanctions package targeting Russia’s shadow fleet and key sectors of its economy, and lowering the price cap on Russian crude oil. These steps reflect Canada’s unwavering solidarity with Ukraine.
We discussed strengthening Ukraine’s energy resilience, increasing sanctions pressure — including the need to further restrict maritime services for Russia’s shadow fleet — and extending Operation UNIFIER until 2029. I also expressed appreciation for Canada’s co-sponsorship of the UN General Assembly resolution “Support for lasting peace in Ukraine”.
We agreed to stay in close contact, including a further visit by Minister Anand to Ukraine and coordination within the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
Deeply grateful for Canada’s steadfast partnership and leadership".
