On March 21, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Melnyk held an online meeting with Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) Rodolfo Sabonge.
They discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation between our country, as an observer in the ACS, and this influential regional organization covering 25 countries.
The interlocutors agreed to work out a roadmap for cooperation between Ukraine and the ACS, paying priority attention to such important areas for the Association as: the protection against natural disasters, the combat against the effects of climate change, the protection and preservation of the Caribbean Sea; sustainable tourism; trade and foreign economic relations; transport.
Andrii Melnyk informed the interlocutor about the current situation in Ukraine in the context of countering Russia's full-scale aggression.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine stressed the importance of most of the ACS member states' support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as Ukrainian initiatives within the UN framework aimed at countering Russian aggression, expressing our country's interest in intensifying cooperation with the countries of the region.
Andrii Melnyk informed the Head of the ACS about the key areas of the Peace Formula initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and called for possible assistance in promoting the initiative among the member states of the organization.
Rodolfo Sabonge reaffirmed his readiness, as Secretary General, to facilitate Ukraine's participation in specific projects to be implemented within the framework of the ACS and expressed hope for a speedy end to the war and the establishment of peace in Ukraine.
Andrii Melnyk invited the Secretary General of the ACS, Rodolfo Sabonge, to visit Ukraine.
