Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a good call with Canada's FM Anita Anand. I briefed my colleague on the consequences of Russia’s latest missile and drone attacks against Ukrainian civilians and critical infrastructure. We discussed ongoing peace efforts and the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence, particularly its ability to intercept ballistic missiles.
We need targeted anti-ballistic sanctions to disrupt Russia’s missile production and cut off access to critical components. At the same time, faster deliveries of interceptors are essential to protect Ukraine’s skies and energy infrastructure.
We followed up on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent visit to Canada, including preparations to sign the 100-Year Partnership Agreement and further security cooperation. I also thanked Anita for Canada’s co-hosting of the Pathways to Peace conference in Toronto, focused on returning Ukrainian children, detained civilians, and prisoners of war.
I’m grateful to Canada for its steadfast partnership and leadership in supporting Ukraine and advancing efforts towards a comprehensive and lasting peace".
