Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held a meeting with the President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), Paul Grod (joined online), the Head of the UWC Mission in Ukraine, Andriy Shevchenko, and the Co-Chair of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organizations, Kateryna Argyrou.
The Minister outlined the current directions of the MFA's efforts and emphasized the fight for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace for Ukraine as a priority issue.
The participants discussed the attempts of the Ukrainian World Congress in conducting advocacy campaigns, coordinating actions of the Ukrainian community in foreign countries, and communicating with their governments, particularly in support of Ukraine’s NATO membership.
The Minister positively noted the joint advocacy campaign marking the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion — “Stand with Ukraine. Unite for Ukrainian Victory” — which took place in 710 cities across 78 countries.
The Minister expressed gratitude to all Ukrainians abroad and all communities that participated in these actions and make daily efforts to support Ukraine, appreciating their patriotism and dedication to the common cause.
He also thanked the UWC for its contribution to the preparation of the draft law on multiple citizenship and noted that this initiative of the President of Ukraine is extremely important for preserving the ties of Ukrainians abroad with their homeland.
Andriy Shevchenko, in turn, informed about the latest deliveries of aid to the military, including a medically equipped Sikorsky S-76A helicopter that recently arrived in Ukraine.
Andrii Sybiha called on the Congress to act as a unifying force for the global Ukrainian community and to establish cooperation with new Ukrainian organizations abroad.
The Minister expressed special gratitude to Kateryna Argyrou and the Ukrainian community of Australia for their assistance and ongoing support of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented Ms. Argyrou a Consular Patent for her honorary consular activities in Sydney, thereby launching the operation of a new non-staff consular institution of Ukraine in Australia. A broader Ukrainian presence in Australia will, as well, improve interaction with the Ukrainian community.
The Minister assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains committed to further developing cooperation with the UWC and Ukrainian organizations abroad, consolidating international support for Ukraine, preserving Ukrainian identity, and spreading the truth about Russia’s genocidal war against Ukraine.
