On 31 May, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held a meeting with EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova.
The interlocutors paid special attention to military assistance from the EU, in particular within the framework of the European Peace Facility. The parties agreed that the speedy provision of military and technical assistance is a key factor in the fight against the aggressor on the battlefield.
The parties also touched upon the issue of strengthening cooperation within the defence industry. The results of the activities of the EU Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM), which has trained almost 50,000 Ukrainian servicemen since 2022, were positively noted.
Andrii Sybiha briefed the Ambassador on the preparations for the first Peace Summit to be held on 15-16 June in Switzerland and expressed his gratitude for the willingness of EU leaders and Member States to participate in the Summit.
