On October 7, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held a meeting with the delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) led by President Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, who is on a visit to our country. This is his first foreign visit as President since his appointment in July 2025.

Andrii Sybiha noted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and expressed gratitude to Pere Joan Pons Sampietro for the support of Ukraine: “We appreciate the strong voice of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in support of Ukraine's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. We must strengthen the role of the parliamentary dimension in addressing the greatest threat to security in the OSCE region – Russia's war against Ukraine,” Andrii Sybiha emphasized.

The Minister informed the delegation about ongoing diplomatic efforts to achieve a just peace, the situation on the battlefield, and Russia's escalation of aerial terror against Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure.

The interlocutors paid particular attention to intensifying international efforts to return Ukrainian children deported by Russia, in the context of Pere Joan Pons Sampietro's statement on initiating the accession of the OSCE PA to the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.

The parties also discussed further efforts to secure the release of Ukrainian civilian hostages, in particular three former employees of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, who are being illegally detained by Russia.

The meeting was also attended by the OSCE PA Secretary General Roberto Montella and high-level representatives of the OSCE PA Bureau.
