Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "Under the leadership of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz, alongside other ministers, I took part in the Ukraine–Germany Intergovernmental Consultations in Berlin.
For the first time in many years, we resumed this effective format to further strengthen our cooperation which allow us to transform agreements into concrete projects and practical steps.
The joint declaration reflects the strategic level of our partnership — recognising Germany’s leadership in supporting Ukraine and the full potential of our bilateral relations. And for us, Germany remains among our closest partners.
Today’s consultations delivered tangible results, including the announcement of a €4 billion defense support package to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence and long-range capabilities.
We also agreed to launch regular consultations on security and defense policy between our foreign and defense ministries, and welcomed the establishment of the Industrial Ramstein format — an important step in deepening industrial cooperation.
These formats are mutually beneficial. For Germany, Ukraine is a prospective economic, energy, and defense partner. We are contributing to Germany’s and Europe’s strength, safety, and prosperity.
These decisions will enhance our joint resilience and contribute to strengthening security and stability across Europe. Ukraine and Germany are not just partners – we are strategic allies shaping Europe’s future together".
