On January 27, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Melnyk, received the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, Larisa Galadza.
Amid the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Canada, they discussed the urgent issues of the bilateral agenda and, inter alia, coordinated mutual steps towards the development of political dialogue in the near future.
Andriy Melnyk expressed gratitude to the Canadian side for provided financial, humanitarian and security assistance that efficiently used to meet the needs of Ukraine and its citizens, who suffered as a result of the Russian Federation's full-scale armed aggression against our country.
The Deputy Minister underlined in particular the decision of the Government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to finance the purchase of the NASAMS system and several LEOPARD 2 tanks for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian diplomat emphasized as well the importance of Canada's continued provision of defense assistance to Ukraine and support for the global tank coalition considering the fact that survival of our people and the victory of Ukraine in the war depends on dynamics of its shaping.
The Canadian Ambassador assured that following the recent visit to Kyiv by the Canadian Defense Minister A. Anand, the practical implementation of the agreements reached between our governments is currently underway. It includes, among others, the prospects of increasing the volume of provision of heavy armored vehicles, artillery shells and equipment for humanitarian demining.
Larisa Galadza confirmed Canada's unwavering support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, testifying to its readiness to use all available tools of pressure on the Russian Federation and to continue assisting the Ukrainian people in repelling the aggressor to the end of joint victory and the launch of the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
