Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a good call with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Baiba Braže to coordinate steps ahead of important meetings.I am grateful to Latvia for its decision to allocate additional funds to strengthening Ukraine’s air defense. This is a timely and greatly appreciated support. We discussed diplomatic efforts to achieve a lasting peace for Ukraine. I reiterated our position that security must come first and an end to the killing is essential for any broader peace efforts. We discussed ways to effectively use NATO’s 5% defense spending to strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities. Ukraine is currently a key contributor to transatlantic security. Boosting Ukraine’s defense means protecting stability throughout the alliance. We also discussed the preparation of the 19th EU sanctions package and the importance of maintaining and increasing Europe’s pressure on Russia.
