"Russia cannot ignore the voice of the world majority if we all take a principled stance and act together. The Peace Formula proposed by President Zelenskyy represents exactly such an opportunity," said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba during his speech at the UN General Assembly debate on the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
The Minister said that Ukraine is actively working with partners to prepare the first Global Peace Summit to be held in Switzerland. He called on all UN member states to take an active part in this process and attend the upcoming Global Peace Summit.
"The scale of this war and its global implications are enormous, as well as the suffering of Ukrainians," the Minister said.
He paid special attention to the fate of abducted Ukrainian children, civilian hostages, and thousands of prisoners of war to whom Russia does not allow international observers. He called on the international community to facilitate the release and exchange of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
The Minister also emphasized human rights violations in the occupied territories, including political persecution, arbitrary detention, torture and sexual violence.
"There is literally not a single atrocity listed in the Rome statute that Russia has not committed in the course of this war. It is not surprising that the Russian President himself is on the ICC wanted list for stealing Ukrainian kids," emphasized Dmytro Kuleba.
The Minister expressed gratitude to the UN member states that consistently support the important calls of the General Assembly condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine and calling on Moscow to stop hostilities.
"If we are serious about restoring peace not only in Ukraine, but also globally, it is time to abandon wishful thinking and engage in realistic and hard work. The Global Peace Summit offers exactly such a concrete and realistic path to peace," he concluded.
