Ukrainian diplomacy is working intensively in world capitals on the issue of imposing tough sanctions against the Russian Federation for its unlawful decision on the so-called "recognition" of the so-called "LDNR".
This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in a video message from Washington, USA.
Dmytro Kuleba said that the State Department and the US National Security Council are currently actively working on Ukraine's security issue.
The minister reported that there was a parallel meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, convened at the request of Ukraine. The topic of the day, of course, is the so-called recognition of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR".
"Our focus right now is on the key. We're working on making decisions to deter Russia. I've had several phone conversations today. With the U.S. Secretary of State, the ministers for foreign affairs of Canada, Britain, the head of EU diplomacy. The key topic: sanctions. The main question now is when and what sanctions will be imposed on Russia. Our position is clear: it's time to apply sanctions against Russia," emphasized the minister.
Dmytro Kuleba added that Ukraine is currently conducting intensive diplomatic work to convene international negotiation formats, meetings and summits, as well as using all international mechanisms to restrain Russia.
According to his statement, the Ukrainian side has an understanding that Russia is trying to provoke Ukraine. At the same time, Ukraine demonstrates wisdom and self-control in order to prevent the deployment of an armed confrontation.
The Minister noted that the President of Ukraine had a number of telephone conversations with world leaders and a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.
"On Tuesday, this work will continue, and we will all be engaged in the protection of Ukraine's national interests. This is task number one. But there is also a strategic task - to find a solution beneficial to Ukraine in the current situation," the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stressed.
