The Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Austria consolidated the common position to ensure the free return of citizens of both countries to their homelands.

On 26 March, during a telephone conversation with the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria Alexander Schallenberg, Dmytro Kuleba noted Vienna's active assistance in creating transit conditions for Ukrainian citizens returning by land transport through Austrian territory.

The ministers agreed that the Austrian authorities will take measures to release the Ukrainian citizens from the fines imposed because of their exceeded stay in Austria due to quarantine.

Alexander Schallenberg thanked for the assistance of Ukraine in the process of returning the Austrian citizens from Ukraine by flights operated by Ukrainian airlines.

The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine paid special attention to the situation concerning the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Both Ministers stressed the joint position regarding the necessity to maintain sanctions of the international community in response to Russia's aggressive actions and Moscow's violation of international law. "Russia's efforts to lift sanctions because of coronavirus pandemic are futile," assured the Austrian Foreign Minister.

"It is crucial when partner countries have a common vision not only of the past but also of the present," Dmytro Kuleba stressed.
