On September 10, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine (CDTO) Dmytro Senik received Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Ukraine Engineer Salem Ahmed AlKaabi.
The interlocutors discussed topical issues of cooperation between Ukraine and the UAE in the political, trade, investment and agricultural spheres. "We are satisfied with the dynamics of development of Ukrainian-Emirati cooperation, which was given a new impetus by the official visit of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the UAE in February this year," Dmytro Senik said.
The diplomats discussed in detail the schedule of contacts between the Ukrainian and UAE officials. They also exchanged views on a number of upcoming high and highest level events.
Dmytro Senik and Engineer Salem Ahmed AlKaabi paid special attention to the preparation for the fourth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in Abu Dhabi in late 2021 - early 2022, which will foster trade and revitalize business contacts.
The parties also discussed opportunities of boosting tourist flows between Ukraine and the UAE. "We are pleased to note the increase in number of tourists from the Gulf countries to Ukraine. Within the Strategy of Foreign Policy, we will continue to work to open our state to the world even greater", the Deputy Minister stressed.
On July 14, 2021, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba had a telephone conversation with Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE A. Al Nahyan.
The total volume of bilateral trade in goods and services between Ukraine and the UAE in 2020 amounted to $900 million. The positive balance for Ukraine of foreign trade in goods and services with the UAE in 2020 reached $378.1 million.
The third meeting of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Emirati Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Kyiv on August 16-17, 2018.
