On 11 June 2021, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (CDTO) Dmytro Senik received copies of the credentials from Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Ukraine Shina Fatai Alege.
During the meeting, the parties discussed practical steps aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Nigeria in the political, trade and educational fields.
“Relations between Ukraine and Nigeria have a huge untapped potential of cooperation, first of all in the areas of trade and investment. Therefore, increasing the volume of bilateral trade is a top priority issue of our agenda”, Deputy Foreign Minister said.
The diplomats confirmed readiness to hold the fourth round of political consultations between Deputy Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the two countries in the nearest future.
For reference: The total volume of trade in goods and services between Ukraine and Nigeria in 2020 amounted to 86,2 million US dollars, with the positive for Ukraine trade balance of 78,3 million US dollars.
In the first quarter of 2021 total volume of trade in goods and services between countries amounted to 30,68 million US dollars.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine 4379 Nigerian citizens were studying in the Ukrainian universities, as on 01 January 2021.
