On September 14, 2020, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (CDTO) Mr. Dmytro Senik received Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ukraine Mr. Joel Lion.

The parties discussed a number of issues of bilateral cooperation, including intensification of high-level bilateral contacts and cooperation between Ukraine and Israel within the framework of international organizations.

They exchanged views on the security situation in the Middle East, in particular in the context of US-mediated agreements on normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Israel and Bahrain.

Mr. Senik and Mr. Lion paid special attention to cooperation in the trade sphere, in particular, stressed the need for speedy ratification of the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Israel by the Israeli government.

The Deputy Minister outlined the achievements and challenges facing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in the context of the introduction of electronic services and resources. Given Israel's extensive experience, the parties discussed the possibility of implementing joint projects in this area.

Dmytro Senik informed about the measures of Ukrainian authorities to ensure safe celebration of Rosh Hashanah, including by the Hasidic pilgrims, and to prevent the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the city of Uman.

In the context of combatting the COVID-19 pandemic, the interlocutors exchanged information on the measures taken by the governments of both countries to combat the spread of the disease, and discussed specific areas of cooperation.
