First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova took part in an interactive dialogue with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the situation in Belarus within the framework of the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council.
Emine Dzhaparova reaffirmed Ukraine's position strongly condemning the ongoing grave human rights violations in Belarus and supporting the democratic aspirations of the Belarusian people. "Ukraine calls on Minsk to finally hear the voice of the people, to ensure justice and effective remedies for the victims," she stated.
First Deputy Minister condemned the manifestations of the destructive role of the Russian Federation, in particular its usurpation of the information field of Belarus. "Being ready to support international efforts to support Belarus in resolving the current challenges, Ukraine once again warns the Russian Federation against interfering in its internal affairs," Emine Dzhaparova stressed.
The interactive dialogue took place in pursuance of the resolution "Situation of human rights in Belarus in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election and its aftermath", co-sponsored by Ukraine in September 2020.
Most of the delegations of states that took part in the discussion took notice of the intensification of repression in Belarus, which indicates the need to continue the monitoring of the situation by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, provided for in the resolution.
