24 October 2023 17:50

On October 24, 2023, the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform was held in Prague, co-chaired by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Marketa Pekarova Adamova.

The participants of the event were addressed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Lipavsky, as well as MPs of countries and parliamentary assemblies of international organizations.

"The loss of Russia is your security, of every nation, which is accustomed to its freedom and relies on the fact that the world is not a place for aggressors," - Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized in his address to the participants.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk stated that without the full restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea, there will be no comprehensive, just and lasting peace for our country and no security for the entire world.

Addressing the participants of the Summit, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova underscored that the Crimea Platform has evolved into a symbol of international collaborative efforts aimed at assisting Ukraine in liberating its territory.

Emine Dzhaparova provided the attendees with an overview of the humanitarian situation as well as Russia's infringement of human rights in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea, particularly affecting the Crimean Tatars. She remarked that Russia's current actions mirror the tactics used by the KGB during the era of the Soviet Union.

Additionally, the First Deputy Minister appealed to the leaders of foreign parliaments urging them to persist in their active support of Ukraine in its resistance against Russia’s aggression, with the ultimate goal of de-occupying the entire territory, including the Crimean Peninsula. She also underscored the need to intensify sanctions against Russia, extend comprehensive assistance to Ukraine, bolster its defense capabilities and establish a Special Tribunal to address the crime of aggression against our country.

The participants of the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform have endorsed a Joint Declaration (available at https://crimeaprague.psp.cz/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Joint-Declaration.pdf), wherein they voiced unwavering support for Ukraine and reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining aid in its resistance against Russia's war of aggression until the complete restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders.
