On April 27, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova took part in an inaugural meeting of the Crimea Platform Support Group, which is being established within the framework of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
In her speech, Emine Dzhaparova informed the participants of the priority areas and dimensions of the Crimea Platform and thanked Ukrainian members of parliament and their foreign colleagues for launching the Support Group and their resolve to actively advocate the cause in the capitals, inter alia, involving leading experts.
"The parliamentary dimension of the Crimea Platform will play an extremely important role in promoting the goals and objectives of the Platform. We are convinced that the Support Group will make every effort to ensure that the issue of the attempted illegal annexation of Crimea and human rights violations by the Russian occupants in Ukrainian Crimea remain in the focus of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly", Emine Dzhaparova stated.
First Deputy Minister stressed on the importance of reflecting these important issues in the final documents adopted within the NATO PA.
Speaking about the deteriorating situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea, Emine Dzhaparova also expressed her conviction in the need to increase political and diplomatic pressure on Russia.
For reference: The Crimean Platform Support Group within the NATO Parliamentary Assembly from the Ukrainian side includes: First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Co-Chair of the NATO-Ukraine Interparliamentary Council Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to NATO PA Yegor Chernev and Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the NATO PA Svitlana Bobrovska.
On behalf of the NATO PA, the group includes Co-Chair of the NATO-Ukraine Interparliamentary Council Oyars Kalnins, Chairman of the NATO Partnership Subcommittee Carl Lamers, and Congressman Rick Larson, Member of the US Parliamentary Delegation to the NATO PA. Additionally, the Group meetings will also be attended by NATO PA President Gerald Connolly.
