Emine Dzhaparova Takes Part in Presentation of “Diplomatic Ukraine” Annual Academic Journal 21st Edition

On December 16, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova opened a public event on the presentation of the 21st edition of the “Diplomatic Ukraine” annual academic journal.

The event was also attended by Director General of the Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions Pavlo Kryvonos, heads of diplomatic missions of Ukraine and foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Ukraine, Director of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Hennadii Nadolenko, Vice-president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Serhiy Pyrozhkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs (2007-2009) Volodymyr Ohryzko, members of the diplomatic, scientific and expert circles.

In her speech, Emine Dzhaparova thanked the organizers of the event and the publishers of the annual journal for many years of work. She also pointed out the publication’s contribution to covering the international agenda of Ukraine and the geopolitical situation in the world as well as the formation of the Ukrainian scientific diplomacy school as a whole.

Aside from that, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs informed about priority aspects of work of the Ukrainian diplomatic service. These aspects include, in particular, counteracting Russian military aggression against Ukraine, fighting for Ukraine’s sovereign territories, protecting Ukrainian citizens abroad, extensive use of multilateral diplomacy mechanisms, emphasizing, in part,  the work conducted with regard to the approval of the UN General Assembly Resolutions on the human rights situation and militarization of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine’s course towards EU and NATO membership, development of the strategic partnership with international partners, economization and digitalization of diplomacy, as well as issues of gender equality.

Emine Dzhaparova also informed about the work done by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on a number of key strategic documents, such as a Communication Strategy, Public Diplomacy Strategy, national Strategy For De-Occupation and Reintegration of Crimea, Defence Plan of Ukraine.

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that the implications of the Russia’s occupation of Ukrainian territories, hosting the Crimean Platform summit, as well as continuing the work on freeing of political prisoners, will remain among the key tasks Ukrainian diplomacy in 2021. Expanding the EU and NATO dialogues, strengthening the cooperation with the international partners and supporting the positive image of Ukraine using soft power will also remain at the forefront for the Ukrainian diplomatic service.

For reference. The “Diplomatic Ukraine” journal is published annually since 2000 by the Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, higher education institutions and diplomats. 

For twenty years now the journal serves as a platform for communication between Ukrainian diplomats, experts and public figures – everyone concerned with the future of Ukrainian diplomacy.

The 21st issue includes 48 original publications – articles by the Ukrainian and foreign diplomats, scientific workings on the history and modern state of international relations and Ukrainian diplomacy.

The articles are comprised into eight thematic sections: “History of diplomacy”, “Institutional history of Ukrainian diplomacy through the eyes of those involved”, “Diplomat’s professional opinion”, “Diplomatic corps of Ukraine”, “Modern diplomacy: concepts and realities”, “Geopolitics in modern world”, “Public diplomacy”, “Bibliography”. 

The publication consists of 880 pages of text in Ukrainian and English languages.
