On October 24, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova took part in the discussion panel "Reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories and guarantees of non-repetition", which took place in Zagreb as part of the First Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform.
Discussion panels brought together well-known Ukrainian and international figures, experts, scientists, representatives of analytical centers and non-governmental human rights organizations.
“The non-repetition formula is actually very simple and consists of several aspects. The first is historical. We must learn the "Crimean lesson" and understand that we cannot dance the tango with the aggressor. Next is the international legal aspect. This is clearly about the Tribunal, the International Court of the United Nations, the International Criminal Court. It is necessary to hold Russia accountable, to force it to pay reparations to the Ukrainian people", Emine Dzhaparova said.
Emine Dzhaparova expressed her belief that Ukraine, like Croatia once, will return all its territories centimeter by centimeter, and our flag will fly in Simferopol, Bakhchysarai and other cities of Ukraine. Therefore, the question of faster reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, will arise. Reintegration will affect a wide range of issues, the answer to which must be collective and decisive. Among the main ones are the establishment of a new security architecture that will make it impossible to repeat such aggression in the future, strengthening of human rights policy and basic freedoms, the development of culture and language, and the restoration of the economy.
On the eve of the First Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform, the Office of the Crimea Platform and the Expert Network organized a one-day series of discussions devoted to the situation in the temporarily occupied territories. Topics include the prospects of bringing Russian officials to justice for war crimes; reintegration of Ukrainian territories after de-occupation; Croatian experience of territorial reintegration.
The panel discussions ended with the screening of the film "Voice of Crimea. Nariman Dzhelyal", dedicated to the history of the First Deputy Head of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People Nariman Dzhelyal. He was detained by the Russian occupation administration after his return from Kyiv, where he participated in the Inaugural Summit of the Crimea Platform. In September 2022, he was illegally sentenced to 17 years in prison.
