On 17 September National Coordinators of the Lublin Triangle, which was established by the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania in July this year, met for the first time via videoconference. Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bodnar (Ukraine), Undersecretary of State for Security, the Americas, Asia and Eastern Policy Marcin Przydacz (Poland) and Vice Minister Dalius Čekuolis (Lithuania) have been appointed as coordinators of this trilateral mechanism of cooperation.
The parties discussed preparations for the next meeting of the Lublin Triangle Foreign Ministers, which upon the initiative of Minister Dmytro Kuleba will be held in Kyiv.
National coordinators outlined key directions of Lublin Triangle activities and agreed on regular cooperation in this format at different working levels. The meeting settled basic principles of Lublin Triangle activities and drafted plans for the near future.
One of the main tasks has to become coordination of three countries’ actions to effectively address current challenges and threats to our common security. Among priority topics – joined counteraction to hybrid threats by Russia, especially fighting its disinformation. A separate attention was paid to the importance of maintaining close cooperation in the framework of international organization.
“We are united not only by common values and interests, but also by common responsibility for the future of our countries and the region, where we live and which during the last years is in the center of global policy developments” – Vasyl Bodnar said.
Deputy Ministers also agreed to start trilateral consultations on different topics at the level of the Foreign Ministries` department directors.
Coordinators focused on the situation in Belarus and other countries of the region.
Vasyl Bodnar thanked partners for invariable support of territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state and support in fighting Russian aggression. He also briefed his counterparts about main purposes of the Crimean Platform and invited Poland and Lithuania to actively cooperate in the framework of the platform aimed at Crimea de-occupation.
