Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly protests against a visit to the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine: the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which had not been previously coordinated with Ukraine and thus illegal, by Ms.Alba Azusena Torres, Ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Russian Federation, in order to deliver a Consular Commission to Oleg Beloventsev, a so-called "Honorary Consul of Nicaragua in the Russian Federation with residence in Simferopol”.

The issuing of the Consular Commission to the so-called "Honorary Consul of Nicaragua to the Russian Federation" is a gross violation of Ukrainian and international law, in particular, the UN General Assembly resolutions 68/262  on "Territorial Integrity of Ukraine", 71/205, 72/190, 73/263 and 74/168 "Situation of human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine", 73/194 and 74/17 on "Problem of the militarization of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine, as well as parts of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov’’.

Our country considers this contemptible action an openly unfriendly gesture of Nicaragua towards Ukraine, which assists the Russian Federation’s aggression and its attempt to annex an integral part of Ukraine: the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

According to the Ukrainian legislation, the entry of foreigners and stateless persons to the temporarily occupied territory and leaving it must be done through the territory of Ukraine. Any institutions and their officials, as well as their activities in the temporarily occupied territory are considered illegitimate, if they were established, elected or appointed in a manner contradicting the legislation of Ukraine. Any action, decision or document issued by such institutions and / or persons is invalid and does not create legal consequences.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine had repeatedly warned the Nicaraguan side about the inadmissibility of any actions violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state. The Ukrainian side has begun the process of applying sanctions in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and will further take all necessary action provided by the Ukrainian and international law to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state.
