On June 4, 2020, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the State of Israel took place in the form of a video conference. The consultations were chaired by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Vasyl Bodnar and Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel Mr. Yuval Rotem.
The diplomats noted that the comprehensive level of cooperation between Ukraine and Israel contributes to shaping of a lasting partnership between our countries.
Trade, innovations and investments will be important areas of bilateral cooperation. The Israeli parliament is expected to ratify the Free Trade Agreement soon. In this context, Vasyl Bodnar noted that the implementation of this Agreement promotes trade relations, in particular the increase in exports of Ukrainian products, and intensifies business ties between our countries.
"Ukraine is interested in using Israel's experience in implementing innovations and creating a favorable investment climate," said Vasyl Bodnar.
The legal employment of Ukrainian citizens in Israel and the border crossing issues by citizens of both countries were also discussed.
Particular attention was paid to countering Russian aggression in Donbas, the need to consolidate the efforts of the international community in order to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The parties discussed in detail the situation in the Middle East.
The Israeli side expressed appreciation of Ukraine’s resolute position in condemning anti-Semitism and combating this shameful phenomenon. "We appreciate the attentiveness of the Ukrainian authorities to this issue," said the representative of the Israeli delegation Gary Koren.
