On January 24, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Iryna Borovets held a meeting with a delegation of senior advisers to the US Congress and experts on international relations headed by Herman Pirchner Jr., President of the American Foreign Policy Council.
Iryna Borovets conveyed her gratitude to the United States for its unwavering political support and comprehensive assistance provided to our nation in the fight for freedom, independence and democratic values.
"The air defense systems, provided by the US, save lives. Our priority remains invariable – we need additional air defense systems to protect civilians, our cities and critical infrastructure from the Russian missile terror," said Iryna Borovets.
The parties also discussed the further implementation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula as well as preparations for the first Global Peace Summit.
The Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of preserving continued bipartisan and bicameral support for Ukraine in the U.S. Congress. In this context, Iryna Borovets noted a number of legislative initiatives introduced in the House of Representatives and the Senate aimed to facilitate resilience of our country and to help bring us closer to victory over the Russian aggressor.
"We count on the U.S. Congress to approve the U.S. Administration request to allocate USD 61.4 billion for defense assistance, humanitarian aid and budget support in the coming days", - concluded the Deputy Minister.
