On August 5, Deputy Minister Iryna Borovets met with the UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine, Humanitarian Coordinator Denise Brown, to mark the end of her mission. The meeting was also attended by the next UN Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator Mathias Schmale.
Iryna Borovets noted Denise Brown's personal efforts in overcoming the consequences of Russian aggression, humanitarian response, and promoting recovery while ensuring close coordination between the UN team and the Government of Ukraine, as well as cooperation with local authorities, communities, non-governmental organizations and volunteer initiatives.
Iryna Borovets once again drew the attention of the UN representatives in Ukraine to the consequences of Russian attacks against civilians and infrastructure, which result in numerous casualties and destruction of social and energy facilities.
It was noted that the Ukrainian side appreciates the interaction with the UN Office in Ukraine and intends to continue productive cooperation with the UN in Ukraine under the leadership of Matthias Schmale.
UN representatives confirmed their readiness to continue further assistance to Ukrainians affected by Russian aggression, especially in the regions with the most difficult situation.
