On June 5-8, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Iryna Borovets paid a working visit to the Republic of Costa Rica in order to participate in the high-level UN event "Immersed in Change" dedicated to ocean conservation.
As part of the visit, Iryna Borovets also held a number of bilateral meetings with Costa Rican colleagues, in particular the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Cooperation Lydia Peralta, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Cooperation Alejandro Solano Ortiz, the Minister of Foreign Trade Manuel Tovar Rivera and the inter-factional group of deputies of the National Assembly of Costa Rica.
The Deputy Minister thanked the Costa Rican side for consistent support of Ukraine and Costa Rica's decision to participate at the highest level in the Global Peace Summit to be held next week in Switzerland. She also thanked for the decision to participate in the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children and the willingness to participate in the work of the main group on the creation of the Special Tribunal for Russia's crimes committed against Ukraine. Iryna Borovets invited Costa Rica to actively join the implementation of the Peace Formula.
The Costa Rican interlocutors, in turn, assured of support for the initiatives of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, aimed at maintaining peace. They also expressed further support for Ukraine within the framework of international organizations and interest in deepening bilateral cooperation. The parties stated their desire for in-depth cooperation in the scientific and technical sphere and the intensification of trade and economic ties, as well as the development of a contractual and legal framework between the two countries.
During a meeting with an inter-factional group of deputies of the National Assembly of Costa Rica, the parties welcomed the creation a few days ago of the Ukraine-Costa Rica Parliamentary Friendship Group, which included representatives of various parties in the country's Congress. Such a decision will undoubtedly contribute to fruitful inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two states.
In San Jose, Iryna Borovets met with the Ukrainian community together with the Ambassador of Ukraine to Mexico, Oksana Dramaretska (accredited in Costa Rica), took part in the screening of the film "20 Days in Mariupol" by Ukrainian Oscar-winning director Mstyslav Chernov, and gave an interview to local media.
