Ukraine welcomes the political decision of the European Union to lift its economic sanctions on Syria, imposed 14 years ago.

This timely move will open additional new opportunities for the Syrian people in the process of building a new, peaceful and prosperous Syria, where human rights, decent living conditions and fundamental freedoms are ensured for all.

Ukraine confirms its commitment to develop bilateral cooperation with Syria in key areas of interaction. We are ready to continue supporting the Syrian people on the path to restoring normal life in the country, particularly, strengthening the country's food security through the humanitarian initiative of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy «Grain from Ukraine» and the special program «Food from Ukraine».
