Ukraine categorically denies any accusations by the Hungarian side regarding the alleged «discrediting campaign» against the leadership of this country.
Ukraine has never conducted and will never carry out any such campaigns against its partners, including neighboring Hungary. Moreover, we have no intention of interfering in the internal affairs of other countries.
This position was clearly conveyed on February 10 in Kyiv during a meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Olexandr Mischenko, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Parliamentary State Secretary Levente Magyar.
Despite the constructive reception of the Hungarian colleague in Kyiv and the organization of all requested meetings at the urgent request of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, it turned out that the main goal of Mr. Magyar was to film a provocative video in the center of the Ukrainian capital featuring manipulative statements and discrediting the leadership of Ukraine.
Nothing discredits Hungarian officials more than their own actions.
As noted during the meeting, such actions by Hungarian officials can only serve the interests of the Russian Federation, which seeks to cause disunity.
Ukraine has been and remains committed to the principles of partnership and is always open to honest and constructive dialogue aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation with all states that share the values of democracy and the rule of law.
