On September 19, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh received a delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana headed by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs John Frimpong Osei.
This is the first official visit of the Ghanaian delegation to Ukraine since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992.
Maksym Subkh noted that the opening of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Accra is clear evidence of Ukraine’s determination to intensify cooperation with Ghana as an important partner on the African continent.
The Special Representative expressed his gratitude for Ghana's support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, in particular, during the voting within the UN General Assembly on key resolutions regarding full-scale Russian aggression. He also welcomed the participation of official Accra in the first Peace Summit in Switzerland, as well as Ghana's accession to the Joint Communiqué of the Summit and invited the Ghanaian side to join the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
The Ghanaian side was informed about the negative global consequences of full-scale Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, in particular, in the context of ensuring food security in Africa. The leadership of the Republic of Ghana was invited to participate in the Third International Summit of the "Grain from Ukraine" humanitarian program.
For their part, the Ghanaian deputies declared support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state and expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people in resisting Russian armed aggression.
The parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, in particular, in the trade and economic sphere.
