On March 6 the Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh met with a group of South African journalists visiting Ukraine as part of a press tour.

Media representatives of the Republic of South Africa were briefed about the situation on the frontline and the consequences of Russia's full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine, as well as steps initiated by Ukraine to ensure world food security, and the efforts of the international community to return home Ukrainian children and prisoners of war.

The Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa expressed gratitude to the government and people of the Republic of South Africa for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. In particular, he noted the efforts of the President of the Republic of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa within the African Peace Initiative, as well as the participation of the advisor to the President of the Republic of South Africa in meetings on implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula at level of national security advisors.

Maksym Subkh emphasized Ukraine's desire to comprehensively develop relations with the countries of the African continent, including the Republic of South Africa. According to him, the opening of new Ukrainian embassies on the continent is one of the proofs of the importance of such cooperation for Ukraine.

The Special Representative of Ukraine noted the significant intensification of the political dialogue between Ukraine and several African countries, emphasized the mutually beneficial interest in strengthening economic cooperation with the states of the African continent both at bilateral level and within the framework of pan-African economic associations and institutions.

The Ukrainian diplomat also underscored that Ukrainian business is ready to cooperate with African partners in areas such as agriculture, food industry, transport engineering, pharmaceuticals, energy, IT industry, education, etc.
