On August 5, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh held a meeting with the journalists of the "Business Daily" (Republic of Kenya), "Eyewitness News" (Republic of South Africa), "Premium Times of Nigeria" (Federal Republic of Nigeria) and "Journalists for Justice" (Republic of The Gambia) as part of their press tour to Ukraine.
Maksym Subkh informed the journalist in detail on the course of the Russian-Ukrainian war and emphasized the need to counter jointly the proliferation of Russian propaganda in the media space of African countries.
The vision of the Ukrainian side on the prospects and mechanisms for increasing the dynamics of interaction with the African continent was of considerable interest to African journalists.
The Special Representative of Ukraine highlighted the potential of cooperation between Ukraine and African states, particularly in the political, trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian spheres, emphasizing its expansion within the context of the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Ukraine`s Relations with the States of Africa adopted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in January 2022.
Maksym Subkh called on African countries to participate in the second Peace Summit to promote achieving a just end to the war, launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and in such international initiatives of Ukraine such as the Summit of the Crimean Platform, the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen and the International Summit on Food Security «Grain from Ukraine».
Ukrainian diplomat emphasized Ukraine`s strong commitment to further development of relations with Africa in the spirit of equality, mutual respect and trust and thanked the governments of the African countries represented at the meeting for the firm support of the sovereignty of Ukraine on the international arena
