On December 24, 2024, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ukraine Mohammed Abdulaziz Saleh Al-Barakah.
The Special Representative expressed congratulations to Mohammed Al-Barakah on the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine. During the meeting, the parties discussed key aspects of Ukrainian-Saudi relationship and the prospects for its further development, in particular in the political, economic, humanitarian, investment and energy spheres. Special attention was paid to the issue of intensifying activities of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Saudi Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.
Maksym Subkh expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its consistent support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the Saudi delegation’s participation in international efforts supporting the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Special Representative also thanked Saudi Arabia for its humanitarian assistance aimed at addressing the urgent needs of the Ukrainian population, which suffers from the consequences of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine.
For his part, Ambassador Mohammed Al-Barakah noted the high level of the dialogue between Ukraine and Saudi Arabia both at the level of the leadership of states and foreign ministries of the two countries. The Saudi diplomat expressed readiness to promote the expansion of Ukrainian-Saudi cooperation, particularly in the trade, economic, humanitarian and agricultural spheres.
The parties gave particular attention to issues related to boosting interaction in education and science, as well as addressing the spiritual needs of the Muslim community in Ukraine by coordinating issues related to the pilgrimage of our fellow citizens to Islamic shrines in the Kingdom.
