On April 12, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh, as part of his tour of African countries, paid a working visit to the Republic of Ghana, where he had a meeting with Deputy Minister Political and Economic of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, member of the Ghanaian Parliament Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, visited the mausoleum-memorial complex named after the first president of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah, where he left a memorable record in the Honorary Guest Book, and also took part in the official opening ceremony of the Embassy of Ukraine in Ghana.
Maksym Subkh transferred a personal message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to his Ghanaian counterpart and renewed the invitation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana to pay an official visit to Ukraine.
During the meeting, the parties had a detailed discussion on ways to intensify bilateral relations in the political and economic spheres, as well as prospects for deepening cooperation between foreign ministries of Ukraine and Ghana.
The Ukrainian diplomat separately expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana for the consistent support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. In this context, the Ghanaian side was invited to join the Ukrainian Peace Formula of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in particular to participate in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland.
During the meetings, special attention was paid to the issue of overcoming the humanitarian and economic consequences of the global food crisis. Ghana was invited to join the Ukrainian humanitarian initiative "Grain from Ukraine", which united countries of the world to help those countries most affected by food shortages.
In his turn, Ghana's Deputy Foreign Minister Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong expressed support for the people of Ukraine and the political leadership of our country in the fight against the Russian aggressor.
In addition, the parties agreed on the need to increase mutual trade, which has decreased in recent years due to the blocking of sea routes and port infrastructure in Ukraine by the terrorist country.
Maksym Subkh, as part of the official opening ceremony of the Embassy of Ukraine in Ghana, also held talks with the doyen of the diplomatic corps in Ghana, ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the European Union member states, gave an interview to the media pool and met with the Ukrainian community.
