On June 11, 2024 during his working visit to Lusaka, Republic of Zambia, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh together with Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa Liubov Abravitova held meetings with representatives of the Government and Parliament of Zambia.
The importance of establishing a just peace and respect for the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and the need to involve African countries in this process were discussed during the meeting with Ms. Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen, Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Zambia.
During the meeting with the National Security Adviser to the President of Zambia, Mr. Lawrence Mwananyanda, the Ukrainian diplomat informed his interlocutor, among other things, that Ukraine will remain a reliable guarantor of global food security, as well as about the risks to it caused by Russian aggression. Maksym Subh thanked the Zambian side for its unwavering position in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country.
In addition, he emphasized the importance of Zambia's continued support for international efforts aimed at achieving a just peace for Ukraine and the importance of Zambia's participation in the implementation of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine.
During the meeting with Mr. Olivier Amutike, Member of the National Assembly of Zambia, Chairman of the Ukraine-Zambia Parliamentary Friendship Group, the prospects of bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, in particular in the field of food security, including ways to intensify cooperation in the inter-parliamentary dimension were discussed.
All the interlocutors were informed of the importance of the first Global Peace Summit in Switzerland as the only way to achieve a just peace and end Russian aggression.
The day before, during his visit to the Republic of South Africa, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh took part in a roundtable discussion with representatives of prominent media and think tanks of South Africa.
