On 18 December, as part of a working visit to the Republic of Tunisia, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Expatriates of the Republic of Tunisia Mohammed Ali Nafti.
Maksym Subkh appreciated the Tunisia’s support of pro-Ukrainian initiatives within the framework of the UN aimed at protecting the territorial integrity of Ukraine and and expressed hope for the revitalization of the role of official Tunis in international efforts to achieve a comprehensive, fair and sustainable peace for our state based on the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
The Special Representative informed the Tunisian Foreign Minister in detail about the Peace Formula and called on the Tunisian Side to adhere to the Joint Communiqué of the First Global Peace Summit, inviting the Tunisian leadership to participate in the next Summit.
During the political consultations, the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in political, trade-economic, educational, security and other spheres. Particular attention was paid to the issue of intensifying the activities of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Tunisian Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.
The interlocutors noted the importance of expanding the legal framework of bilateral cooperation and emphasized the priority of consideration of draft agreements on free trade, cooperation in the fields of commercial shipping and road transport, mutual recognition of certificates, issued to seafarers by both states.
The Tunisian Minister assured the Ukrainian side of supporting all initiatives to achieve peace in Ukraine. Tunisia is interested in resuming studies of Tunisian students in Ukrainian higher education institutions, as noted by Mohammed Ali Nafti.
A written message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha was conveyed to the Tunisian Foreign Minister, which contained an invitation to his Tunisian colleague to pay an official visit to Ukraine at a time convenient for the Tunisian side.
During the working visit to Tunisia Maksym Subkh gave an interview to the Tunisian newspaper Tunisie Numérique. He also held a meeting with the leadership of the Ukrainian-Tunisian Friendship Association and the Ukrainian School in Tunisia.
