On May 19, on the 31st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Sultanate of Oman, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh held a meeting with Ambassador-at-Large at the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman Sheikh Abdulaziz A. Al-Hinai.
The main objective of the Omani Ambassador's visit to Ukraine was to hand over a personal letter of His Majesty Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik addressed to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During the negotiations, the sides exchanged views on the pressing issues of the international and bilateral agenda, as well as they outlined the priorities for further development of cooperation between two countries.
The sides also discussed the opportunities for Oman to support the Ukrainian economy, which has suffered immense losses from Russia’s armed aggression, as well as the restoration of its investment potential through the comprehensive participation of the Omani public sector and the business cluster in the Post-War Reconstruction Plan of Ukraine.
Maksym Subkh expressed gratitude to his Omani colleague for consistent support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He also invited the Sultanate of Oman to join the process of implementation of the Peace Formula, which was initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the Grain from Ukraine initiative.
In his turn, the Omani representative expressed his respect for the courageous Ukrainian people and emphasized the importance of promptly finding effective mechanisms to put an end to the hostilities on the territory of our country in order to restore sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
During his stay in Ukraine, the Omani diplomat visited Irpin and Hostomel, where he could witness the consequences of the Russian aggression. He also got acquainted with the history of formation of Ukraine’s statehood at the National Sanctuary Complex "Sophia of Kyiv”.
