On December 18, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine held a discussion on priorities in Ukraine's work and communication with African countries. The discussion was chaired by Maksym Subkh, the special representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa, and more than 20 experts from government and non-governmental organizations of Ukraine.

Maksym Subkh informed the participants about the main priorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in strengthening partnership and building effective communication between Ukraine and African countries for 2024-2026.

"Africa is the continent of the future. However, without effective communications, there is no transformation of approaches and politics cannot be built. An important factor for the development of communication is the political dialogue, the intensity of which has been noted at the level of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the results of which contribute to the further implementation of initiated decisions," Maksym Subkh noted during the meeting.

Commenting on the strengthening of cooperation with African countries, Maksym Subkh recalled that in 2023, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had more than 20 phone conversations with the leaders of African countries, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba had more than 35 conversations with African colleagues. Maksym Subkh noted the importance of conveying true information, as well as understanding the traditions and structure of the states of the African continent when building communication. In addition, the diplomat emphasized the importance of future cooperation in the fields of economy, education, health care and defense.

"Among the priority directions of Ukraine's partnership with African countries: strategic cooperation, strengthening of communication, trade and economic relations. Work in these directions has begun, and we should already think about how we will build cooperation with Africa after our victory," Maksym Subkh emphasized.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has been working for a long time to improve strategic communications with African countries, which involves the use of various information channels for effective communication with African countries.

Special attention will be paid to adapting messages and information materials to the cultural and linguistic characteristics of African countries to maximize understanding and support on the continent.
