On 19 May, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa received copies of the credentials from the Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Ukraine, Gloria Lissette Nalvarte Simoni de Isasi.

Mariana Betsa congratulated the Peruvian diplomat on the beginning of her official mission in Ukraine and wished her every success in carrying out her professional duties.

She emphasized the importance of further strengthening the Ukrainian-Peruvian dialogue and expressed hope for the active development of bilateral relations in the political, economic, and humanitarian spheres, as well as within the framework of cooperation in international organizations. 

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the humanitarian dimension, in particular the issue of the illegal transfer and deportation of Ukrainian children by Russia. In this context, Mariana Betsa invited the Peruvian side to join the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine also informed her colleague about the current security situation in the country amid Russia’s ongoing armed aggression against Ukraine, including the consequences of the cynical Russian attack on Kyiv last week.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further deepening cooperation and underscored the importance of maintaining regular political dialogue at all levels, as well as coordinating joint efforts to implement mutually beneficial initiatives and expand the agenda of Ukrainian-Peruvian cooperation.
