“We are grateful for WHO’s unwavering support in strengthening the resilience of Ukraine’s healthcare system amid the ongoing armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, as well as for the vital assistance the Organization provides to our citizens in the most affected frontline areas of Ukraine,” Mariana Betsa noted.

The sides discussed key priorities for WHO’s further activities in Ukraine, including ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the Organization in frontline areas against the backdrop of Russia’s continued attacks on humanitarian personnel and UN facilities. They also agreed to explore a number of initiatives aimed at further strengthening WHO’s assistance to Ukraine.

WHO remains a key partner of Ukraine in ensuring the effective coordination of medical assistance in the frontline areas of the country, evacuating patients, deploying mobile medical teams, delivering essential medicines and medical equipment, and providing psychological support to those affected. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Organization has allocated USD 400 million to provide such assistance to the people of Ukraine and support the Ukrainian healthcare system.
